Last year I signed a Compromis de Vente to buy a plot of land in the Pas de Calais region. The purchase was subject to planning permission to build on the land. I paid a deposit of 2000 euros and waited for the permission to arrive. For many months I heard nothing. I asked French Services to help me. Jenny tracked down the case officer in the planning department and found that planning permission would not be granted. I then asked for my deposit to be refunded. When I heard nothing for several months from the agents, I asked Jenny to sort it all out for me. She contacted the agents on my behalf and very quickly arranged for my deposit to be returned. When I was ready to buy my house in France I contacted French Services from the French estate agent's office and Jenny helped me to get all the paper work done, from the signing of the first contract to the completion. This took about 3 months. I also applied for a French bank loan and had to answer several questions which I did with Jenny. Jenny took all of the phone calls from the agent and the bank. We had to organise a proxy for my wife who could not go to France to sign the completion document. Jenny dealt with this aspect as well, putting us in contact with a local notary. I am going to rent out my villa and need to make it comply with French regulations. The estate agent deals with the letting but they liaise with Jenny and she lets me know what I have to do. Jenny helped me with the rental mandate which was in French. She is also acting as a link between me and the management committee.

Twelve months or 45 lessons ago I would not have believed how comfortably I would be able to communicate and enjoy travelling in France. With the basic vocabulary and grammar learnt I was able to order food, drink and a room and partake in minor conversations. Jenny is an extremely skilful teacher and consistently modified our lessons to accommodate my understanding of English as well as my ability to absorb and remember new French data.
